Festival of Flowers Photography Contest
The Festival of Flowers promotes an interest in gardening and beautification, and encourages the preservation of the natural beauty that is so much a part of Mobile's heritage, while furthering the health care mission of Providence Hospital. The photography competition emulates those principles and embraces the theme selected for the annual exhibition.

An award ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 31st at 1:00 p.m. in the photography tent. Winners will receive two complimentary tickets for admission to the Festival of Flowers.
2012 Photgraphy Division Rules and Entry Form:
Eligibility:
Competition is open to amateur and professional photographers. Festival of Flowers Photography Committee members and judges are eligible to enter any Class, but will not be judged. Color, black and white, sepia-toned and manipulated photographs may be entered in any Class.
Entries:
An entry fee of $10 per photograph must accompany the 2012 Photography Division Entry Form. Entry forms are available on the Festival of Flowers website, and at Calagaz Photo and Digital Imaging, 90 Springdale Blvd., Mobile, AL.
Make checks payable to Festival of Flowers. (There is a $30 returned check fee.)
Entries must be submitted by February 27th, 2012. No faxed or e-mailed entries will be accepted.
Entrant may submit an unlimited number of entries.
Requirements:
Each entry must be an original photograph taken by and the property of the entrant
Photographs previously submitted to former Festival of Flowers competitions are not eligible.
All photographs are limited to subjects such as flowers, gardens, water features, etc. as described by the 2012 Photography Division Classes.
All photographs must be matted on 16x20 boards. Black mats only. Minimum print size is 5x7.
Due to the nature of the show, clear protective covers are required for all photographs and are available for purchase at Calagaz Photo and Digital Imaging.
Entrant name, address, phone number, Class name, and title of photo must appear on the backside of the matted photo, outside of protective covering.
Plant identification is encouraged when the image is specifically of a plant specimen.
No names, signatures or other identifying marks may appear on the front of the photo.
Photos will remain with the Festival Committee from the time of sub-mission until the end of the show Sunday, April 1st. Photographs will be available for pick-up after 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2 at Calagaz Photo and Digital Imaging, 90 Springdale Blvd., Mobile, AL
Photographs not retrieved by May 1, 2012 will be donated to a local charity. Entrants who are logistically unable to retrieve their photographs and would like to have them returned, must remit a check of $20 for shipping expenses to the Providence Foundation. Photos will be mailed back as soon as possible.
Judging:
All division classes will be judged beginning at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, March 10th, 2012 at Calagaz Photo and Digital Imaging, 90 Springdale Blvd., Mobile, AL. The public is invited to attend.
Photos will be judged based on composition, technical merit, creativity and distinction, and interpretation of class theme.
The highest scoring images will be displayed at the Festival; others will be hung at the discretion of the photography committee and as space allows.
First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention ribbons will be awarded in all Division Classes. Cash prizes will be awarded for Best of Show, Overall First and Second Runners-up, First Place in each Division Class and Best Photograph Title.
Best of Show and Overall First and Second Runners-up photographs will be displayed at the Mobile Museum of Art and Providence Hospital.
